Story of Stuff, Full Version; How Things Work, About Stuff
As a child I love animals and was blessed to have grandparents who had orchards and beautiful river streams right behind grandma’s house. I could run freely chasing after rabbits, goats and even cows and buffaloes right into beautiful swaying green padifields. Nowadays, I have to take my younger children to the zoo just to see a goat! I take my children to the zoo so often that they know some of the animals there by name and have named some themselves. We've been to many great and not so great zoos around the world but just like any living thing with a heartbeat, nothing compares to being born free and living in the natural world. I always tell my children... No zoo is good enough for any animal but as responsible human beings, it is our duty and obligation to provide the best when there is a need to keep them in captivity. Education is vital and a good zoo is a great place to start learning about them. Animals are sometimes like our teachers. Imam Hazrat Ali Abi Talib (son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w) said, "Be like a bee. Anything he eats is clean, anything he drops is sweet, and any branch he sits upon does not break."

This is my first time on the blog. I am Rossiti Aishah Rashidi, a mother of five wonderful children. Siti Hani is my third child and she is just amazingly loving and caring towards animals. My other children are also animal lovers.
This blog is created in order to understand what “Green Hopes” is about and what does “being green” means.
“Green Hopes” as the word itself translates, an optimistic outlook for the future. Only if we desire enough and work hard enough to care for Mother Earth and all its creatures, only then we can make sure that Mother Earth can provide for her creatures now and forever. We need fresh water, good food and a clean environment to flourish. Our animal friends need their habitats protected so they can have a good home, plenty of water and good food.
Everything we do has an impact on the Earth whether it is the food we eat, how we live and play, the toys we play with, or the clothes we wear. All these come from planet Earth. How they are made and how much of them we use is very important to our environment.
So every day, please act green and continue to make “Green Hopes” alive and well. Let’s take the green steps to lessen our impact on Earth. To take green steps is as simple as following the three R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. By taking these steps we can protect our planet and all her creatures.
If we love our family, care for our friends, treasure our children and continue to admire nature, we must be guardians of our environment instead of being agents of destruction.

Hani & Chokey
I am a 17 year old school girl with a huge passion for orangutans. I am one of those who would constantly ask my mom to take me to the zoo. The animals in the zoo really fascinate me. However, the living conditions for the animals in the zoo sometimes bring tears to me.
In 2006, I met Chokey the orangutan in Zoo Negara. I am truly blessed to have known Chokey. My acquaintance with him has changed my perspective towards life. Since I met Chokey, I have learnt to appreciate the freedom that I have taken for granted.
I am also blessed to have a wonderful family who loves animals including wildlife. I guess I’m just an ordinary girl living in an extraordinary world. May Green Hopes inspire all of us to be more loving, caring and responsible towards the precious Earth.
